Janssonius, Hondius' partner, copied this map from Blaeu who published this map already in 1635. Cartographically the map draws on the extremely rare chart by Hessel Gerritz, c.1631. The only notable differences with the Blaeu are that here Janssonius does not name VIRGINIA, and the Blaeu has a cartouche bearing a dedication in the lower left.
