Generally regarded as main source of all later maps of the Mississippi. First large-scale map accurately showing lower Mississippi River and surrounding areas. Also first to reflect accurately the expeditions of Hernando de Soto, Henri de Tonty, and Louis de St. Denis. The first map with the name Texas (in phrase "Mission de los Teijas etablie in 1716").
