Third edition of this important account of Ulrich Schmidel's voyage to Brasil and the Rio de la Plata in the years 1534-1554. "In the preface Hulsius points out the mistakes in the De Bry's edition of Schmidel's voyages. These mistakes refer mainly to the names of places. Hulsius claims to have used the original text. Schmidel's portrait is very well engraved, and the map very accurate... Schmidel's voyage was first printed in the Feyerabend collection in 1567" (Borba de Moraes). Among the nice plates there are views of Buenos Aires, fightings, people and animals.
