"The cartographer C.J. Vooght draws on unpublished sources but does not in the end compose and improvement. The southern regions still call upon old Spanish nomenclature drawn from De Bry, 1591, which only reflects the fact that no development or discoveries were really being made in this region yet. The immediate Carolina coastline is still compressed on a northerly axis and does not utilise the advances made in the Second Lords Proprietors map of 1682 by Noel Gascoyne. It is not until Charles Towne that English nomenclature intercedes. An inset provides more detail of this English port but places Charles Towne on the south bank of the Rio Grande, a position from which it relocated in 1680." (Burden)
