The complete collection includes 45 plates, published in 15 issues each containing three plates. The publishing price for a coloured issue was fl. 24.00. (c.1850).

Petrus Johannes Schotel (1808-1865) was a painter and lithographer, son of Johannes Christiaan Schotel. He was a pupil of his father and like him specialized in sea and river views. He was an expert on the technical and historical details of ships.
