Jacques Barraband (1767-1809), a superlative bird artist, had worked in a variety of environments: in the Gobelin tapestry works, and at the Sà¨vres porcelain factory. His most important work was a set of approximateley 300 drawings for the scientist FranÇois Levaillant's three ornithological monographs, including the Histoire Naturelle des Perroquets.
